VDMA Photovoltaic Equipment supports solarpeq 2012
Also, for 40 years now, the VDMA Glass Technology Forum has been one of the sponsoring organisations of glasstec, the world’s leading trade fair for the glass industry, which is closely linked with solarpeq and will take place simultaneously and in close proximity. Moreover, the Glass Technology Forum and VDMA PV are supporting a conference entitled ‘Solar Meets Glass’ at solarpeq 2012, where interface issues of glass and solar power will be highlighted. At this conference both partners will be contributing their expertise to the choice of subjects and content. Similar to its première in 2010, solarpeq will have a joint stand in Hall 11, managed by VDMA PV. A number of well-known major industry players have already agreed to take part, including Centrotherm Photovoltaics and Siemens.
“We are very pleased to have the support of VDMA Photovoltaic Equipment for solarpeq, as they have a good level of expertise and understand the unique value of a trade fair for PV production equipment in combination with this globally most important glass trade fair,” said Hans Werner Reinhard, in the Board of Managing Directors Messe Düsseldorf responsibility for glasstec and solarpeq.
“The combination of solarpeq and glasstec allows a unique and direct exchange of ideas between two industries that can clearly benefit from each other. After all, glass plays a major role in increasing efficiency and reducing the cost of production in PV modules,” said Dr. Peter Fath, Head of Engineering at Centrotherm Photovoltaics AG and Chairman of the Board of VDMA.
At the last glasstec/solarpeq in 2010 a total of 1,274 exhibitors from 52 countries offered their products and services in glass machinery, the glass industry, the glazier trade and production technology for photovoltaics. In all, the two trade fairs were visited by over 44,000 experts. glasstec/solarpeq 2012 will be held at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre from 23 to 26 October 2012. The conference ‘Solar Meets Glass’ has been scheduled for the 22 and 23 October 2012. Information about the two trade fairs is available at the following web addresses: www.glasstec.de and www.solarpeq.de. Exhibitors are welcome to register for glasstec at www.glasstec.de/1330 and for solarpeq at www.solarpeq.de/1330.
About VDMA PV
About 100 VDMA members are currently studying the area of Photovoltaics. It started in 2007 as a collaborative endeavour of several VDMA divisions: Production Electronics, Glass Technology, Energy, Organic Electronics, Robotics and Automation, Laser Production Technology and Photonics, Surface Engineering, Vacuum Engineering and Displays. When VDMA set up its extended Photovoltaic Equipment Platform on 30 March 2010, the activities of its members were widened and the visibility of the industry was increased.
The German Machinery & Plant Manufacturers’ Association (VDMA) represents over 3,000 medium-sized companies that operate in mechanical engineering and construction. With a workforce of about 920,000 (June 2011) in Germany and sales of EUR 173 billion (2010), this sector is the biggest industrial employer and generally one of Germany’s leading industries.
About solarpeq
solarpeq, the International Trade Fair for Solar Production Equipment will be held in Hall 11 of the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre from 23 to 26 October 2012. It covers the area of production engineering for crystalline thin-film photovoltaics. This includes, in particular, manufacturers of machinery and equipment and its components as well as suppliers of materials for the production of solar end products. Following its successful première in 2010, solarpeq – with 170 exhibitors – will run simultaneously and in close proximity with glasstec, the International Trade Fair for Glass Production, Processing and Products. With over 1,150 exhibiting companies, glasstec is the world’s biggest and most important trade fair for glass as a material. In 2010 it attracted more than 44,000 visitors, of whom 57 per cent came from other countries. The combination of glasstec and solarpeq provides a unique thematic interface between glass and solar power. An exchange between these key industries can offer valuable assistance in the reduction of costs in PV production. The conference ‘Solar Meets Glass’, held at solarpeq, will deliver some in-depth insights into these important interface topics.
