Focus on Innovative Manufacturing Technologies

According to the vision of the photovoltaics industry, solar power production is expected to be able to compete with grid power in Europe by 2015 if not before. New factory concepts and production methods can help cut costs drastically. This means that factory layout planners and machine builders move increasingly to the foreground. solarpeq will do justice to the growing importance of solar equipment makers: this technology event will present innovations on all levels of the solar production value chain. 

Both PV segments – up-and-coming thin-film as well as established crystalline silicon technology – will be on show in Düsseldorf. Organisers expect factory planners, suppliers of complete production lines – so-called turnkey solutions – as well as producers of special equipment to attend. In the thin-film segment this includes machinery for glass treatment, laser technology as well as pressure and vacuum systems for semi-conductor coating. Even more differentiated are added-value processes in crystalline applications: silicon blocks are “sliced” into so-called wafers, which are processed into cells and finally connected to form modules. The process technology required to do this – ranging from silicon dicing saws to module laminators – will be on display at solarpeq. Add to this cross-technology automation solutions and metrology. 

Not only diversity but also many technical innovations will be presented in Düsseldorf. Solar equipment suppliers have short innovation cycles. Thanks to improved machinery and stronger automation the solar industry has managed to cut manufacturing costs by half over the past two years.
